Relay setup
In weechat on the relay host:
/relay add tls.irc 9000
/secure set relay_password <password>
/set relay.network.password "${sec.data.relay_password}"
On the relay host:
mkdir -p ~/.weechat/tls
cd ~/.weechat/tls
openssl req -nodes -newkey rsa:2048 -keyout relay.pem -x509 -days 365 -out relay.pem
openssl x509 -in relay.pem -noout -fingerprint | sed -e 's/://g'
In weechat on the relay client:
/secure set relay_password <password>
/server add libera relay.example.com/9000 -autoconnect
/set irc.server.libera.password "libera:${sec.data.relay_password}"
/set irc.server.libera.tls_fingerprint <fingerprint from above>
/set irc.server_default.capabilities "server-time"
This client configuration assumes that an IRC server named “libera” has been set up on the relay host.
As an alternative to a self-signed certificate, obtain a valid one from Let's Encrypt. This obsoletes the need for a fingerprint.
