Fix geolocation detection on Linux

Topics: Linux, GNOME

This workaround uses BeaconDB as an alternative geolocation endpoint for GeoClue.

With the shutdown of the Mozilla Location Services, many Linux distributions don’t get the information necessary for automatic date, time, timezone and map location anymore.

One alternative is to use beaconDB. Thanks to its API compatibility with MLS, the fix is simple. In /etc/geoclue/geoclue.conf, change the [wifi] section as follows:

[wifi]
enabled=true
url=https://beacondb.net/v1/geolocate

After a systemctl restart geoclue, location detection should be working again.
