Bluefin installation breaks failing to write boot manager
Topics: Bluefin
On the affected laptop, updating outdated UEFI firmware resolved the boot-manager error that stopped Bluefin’s installer.
Update BIOS
I had the issue on an older laptop that the Bluefin installation (as well as the Fedora Silverblue installation I tried afterwards) broke with Failed to write boot loader configuration.
Turns out it was an outdated UEFI firmware.
I managed to install Fedora Workstation successfully, and used it to run
$ sudo fwupdmgr refresh
$ sudo fwupdmgr update
It boosted the version of the UEFI firmware along the lines of v54 to v379. After rebooting, I was able to install Bluefin without issues.
